EASY CHERRY GALETTE

This cherry galette is the next best thing to a cherry pie. Same ingredients, but without the extra hassle. This dish is made with a flaky and buttery pie crust with cherry pie filling at its center

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cup (188g) All Purpose Flour
  • 2 tbsp (30g) Granulated Sugar
  • ½ cup (113g / 1 stick) of Cold Unsalted Butter
  • ½ tsp (3g) Salt
  • 100 ml (6.5 tbsp) of Cold Water
  • 1 med Egg
  • 1 tsp Milk
  • ½ can (270 ml) Cherry Pie Filling
  • Cane Sugar (to sprinkle - optional)

Instructions

  • Add your flour, sugar, and salt to a bowl and whisk well.
  • Grate your previously frozen butter and mix until well combined.
  • Add in your water and knead your dough.
  • Refrigerate your dough for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  • Roll out your dough in a circular shape and place the dough on a lined baking tray.
  • Add your cherry pie filling in the center of the dough, leaving 2-3 inches of space away from the filling.
  • Fold the edges of your dough over the filling.
  • Combine your egg and milk to make an egg wash and brush it over your dough.
  • Sprinkle some cane sugar over the dough and bake for 40 minutes.
  • Cool for 10-15 minutes before cutting.
