This homemade cherry cobbler is delicious, and it only requires simple ingredients to make it.This dish consists of fresh cherries baked into a syrupy concoction under a layer of a buttery biscuit. You can serve it either by itself or alongside a scoop of vanilla ice cream. You can easily use cherry pie filling if you aren't able to get fresh cherries. I used it in my cherry galette and cherry crisp recipes. To switch up the flavors, you can also turn this recipe into a delicious blueberry cobbler.
Wash and pit 1 lb. of cherries. Cut them into quarters and add to a baking dish.
Squeeze the juice from half a lime over the cherries and mix well.
Add in your sugar, cornstarch, salt and vanilla and mix to combine.
To a bowl, add your dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
Add in your melted butter and milk and mix well.
Spoon the batter over the filling and evenly spread it out.
Bake at 375°F for 35 minutes.
Cool for 10 minutes before cutting.
Serve warm as is or with vanilla ice cream.
Notes
*I used closer to 1/2 cup of milk in this recipe than I was suppose to, which is why the batter is more runny. It still has a similar texture to the blueberry cobbler, but either recipe is good.
