This apple bread has a delicious taste of baked apples wrapped in cinnamon flavors. It is moist and soft, similar to my banana bread recipe.
I love the aroma that fills in the air while it’s baking in the oven.
I don’t know about you, but there is always something about apple recipes, especially accompanied by cinnamon, that makes them irresistible.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED FOR APPLE BREAD
1. Flour
2. Butter
3. Cinnamon
4. Light Brown Sugar
5. Pure Vanilla
6. Salt
7. Eggs
8. Baking Soda
9. Baking Powder
10. Lime
11. Apples – You want to use apples that are firmer and will hold up in baking. I used Honeycrisp in this recipe but you can use gala apples, which I used in my apple crumble recipe. Other good baking apples are Fuji, Pink Lady and Granny Smith.
12. Unsweetened Applesauce – Adds additional moisture and apple flavor to the bread.
HOW TO MAKE APPLE BREAD
1. Wash two apples, peel the skin and remove the core.
2. Grate the apples and add to a bowl. You can also dice the apples if you prefer chunks in your apple bread.
3. Add in 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 cup sugar and lime juice. Mix to combine then set aside. You want the apples to absorb some of the flavor before you add it to the batter. Plus, it will create extra liquid that will add to the batter.
4. In a separate bowl, add all your remaining dry ingredients and mix well.
5. Add in your apple mixture and the rest of your ingredients. Mix until well combined.
6. Pour out your batter in a greased and lined baking pan and bake at 350°F for 50-55 minutes or until the toothpick comes out clean.
7. Once out of the oven, cool in the pan for 10 to 15 minutes before taking it out.
8. Transfer it to a cooling rack and cool completely before cutting.
STORAGE TIPS
Room Temperature – The best way to store apple bread is to wrap it in plastic wrap or paper towel after it has cooled completely and place it in a Ziploc bag or airtight container. This will keep it moist. It can be left out for up to 4 days at room temperature.
Fridge – You can store it in the fridge if you need to keep it for more than a few days. Just wrap it in plastic wrap to help keep it moist, because the fridge will quickly dry it out. Warm it up in the microwave for a few seconds before eating.
Freezer – Apple bread keeps really well in the freezer just as long as it is wrapped in plastic wrap and placed in an airtight container or Ziploc bag. After wrapping it in plastic wrap, you can add a second layer of protection by wrapping it in foil. It will last for up to 3 months.
