Breadfruit is a popular ingredient in Jamaican cuisine, recognized for its starchy texture and slight sweetness. Roasting breadfruit brings out its rich taste, making it an excellent addition to dishes such as ackee and saltfish, callaloo, or simply enjoyed on its own. Breadfruit is traditionally roasted over an open flame, but utilizing an oven provides a more convenient option without sacrificing flavor.
