They are a flat free-form pie made with a flaky pastry dough that is filled with a variety of ingredients. The dough is typically folded around the filling to create a rustic-looking tart before baking on a baking tray.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED FOR CHERRY GALETTE
1. Flour
2. White Sugar
3. Salt
4. Unsalted Butter
5. Cold Water
6. Cherry Pie Filling
7. Milk
8. Egg
9. Cane Sugar (optional)
HOW TO MAKE CHERRY GALETTE
1. Add your flour, sugar, and salt to a bowl and whisk well.
2. Grate your previously frozen butter and mix until well combined.
3. Add in your water and knead your dough.
4. Refrigerate your dough for 30 minutes.
5. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
6. Roll out your dough in a circular shape and place the dough on a lined baking tray.
7. Add your cherry pie filling in the center of the dough, leaving 2-3 inches of space away from the filling.
8. Fold the edges of your dough over the filling.
9. Combine your egg and milk to make an egg wash and brush it over your dough.
10. Sprinkle some cane sugar over the dough and bake for 40 minutes.
11. Cool for 10-15 minutes before cutting.
12. Serve warm as is or with vanilla ice cream.
HOW TO STORE IT
You can store it at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the fridge for up to 5 days in an airtight container.

- ½ cup (113g / 1 stick) of Cold Unsalted Butter
- ½ tsp (3g) Salt
- 100 ml (6.5 tbsp) of Cold Water
- 1 med Egg
- 1 tsp Milk
- ½ can (270 ml) Cherry Pie Filling
- Cane Sugar (to sprinkle – optional)
