There is nothing better than enjoying mozzarella sticks at home besides finding out how incredibly easy they are to make. Each mozzarella stick is seasoned from start to finish and then fried until golden brown. These make the perfect appetizers or side dish for your favorite meals. Paired with marinara sauce, these cheesy goodness are better than any mozzarella sticks you would get from the store or restaurant.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED FOR MOZZARELLA STICKS

1. Mozzarella

2. Flour

3. Italian Style Bread Crumbs

4. Eggs

5. Salt

6. Garlic Powder

7. Onion Powder

8. Paprika

HOW TO MAKE MOZZARELLA STICKS

1. Cut a block of mozzarella into 12 sticks that are 1/2″ thick and set aside.

2. In one bowl, add your flour, 1/2 tsp salt, garlic powder, onion powder and paprika.

3. In a second bowl, crack and whisk 2 eggs.

4. In a third bowl, mix the bread crumbs and 1/4 tsp salt.

5. Coat each of your mozzarella sticks in your flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, shaking of any excess, then into the bread crumbs.

6. Do a second coating by dipping the sticks back in the egg and then in the bread crumbs.

7. Repeat the steps for the remaining mozzarella sticks.

8. Add your sticks to a freezer-safe container and freeze for minimum 2 hours.

9. Preheat your oil to 365°F using a thermometer . Without over crowding your pot, fry your mozzarella sticks for 1-2 minutes. I fried it in two batches.

10. Briefly drain on paper towels and serve immediately with marinara sauce.

FAQS

Can I bake these in the air fryer? Yes, you can bake these at 390°F for 5-7 minutes. Please keep in mind that these will not have the same level of crispiness and flavor that you’d get when you fry them.

Can I use Cheese Stings? I never used them, but you can use them since they are more convenient.

Do I need to freeze them? Yes. Do not skip this step. Otherwise, they will end up in a gooey mess if you were to fry them immediately.

HOW TO STORE IT

These are best enjoyed after being refrigerated for up to 2 days. If you wish to keep these longer, you can freeze them for up to 3 months in an airtight container.

  • 400g Block of Mozzarella Cheese

Notes

You might be able to use a 300g block of cheese. I used a 400g block and had some left over. If your block of cheese is thick, just cut it in half before cutting your 12 1/2″ mozzarella sticks.
